Post-Wildfire SWAP
As part of the Deschutes Soil and Water Conservation District’s (DSWCD) Soil and Water Assistance Program (SWAP), DSWCD will be offering a post-wildfire emergency financial assistance program to help private landowners with immediate post-wildfire recovery on natural and working lands. Landowners within a wildfire footprint will have the opportunity to apply for funding.
Funded applicants will be reimbursed for treatment costs at a 75% rate or up to $20,000 per landowner, whichever is less.
The program will fund post-wildfire treatments including:

Weed Management

Reseeding

FAQ
Not necessarily—many sites recover on their own. Need depends on factors like burn severity, ground disturbance, and pre-burn vegetation. A site visit after you apply will help determine this.
Yes! Joint applications are encouraged—they reduce treatment costs and improve landscape-scale recovery.
Yes, and outside funding can strengthen your application. We reimburse up to 75% of total treatment cost. Example: a $50,000 project with $30,000 from NRCS would receive up to $7,500 from us ($50,000 × 75% = $37,500 − $30,000 = $7,500).
No—we only fund fires listed on the solicitation, not past wildfires, since this program targets immediate post-wildfire needs. Check with state/federal partners (NRCS, FSA, ODA, Deschutes County) or other Deschutes SWCD grant programs for options.
